Hi Wen ~ just catching up on some reading and saw your list of books. The Hot Zone stuck out since I had my junior English kids read it long time ago. I think it was close to the time the country was worried about HIV too. These are old books based on true stories that I remember my students really got into: Both Sybil and The Minds of Billy Milligan were about multiple-personalities. And In Cold Blood by Truman Capote -- a real life murder. Have you read them?
Hi Jan, thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment. I remember the 1970s movie being made about Sybil with Sally Field playing the lead based on real life case of Shirley Mason, but I havenโt read the book. The Minds of Billy Milligan was one that slipped my radar so thanks very much for the recommendation. Iโm know of the Truman Capote book ICB but never got round to reading it so thanks for the reminder about this one also. What fascinated me about Richard Prestonโs books was the subject of epidemiology which has always been a strong interest of mine. I quite like medical thriller fiction authors like Robin Cook and Michael Crichton. And on the subject of Michael Crichton Iโm reminded of several other titles for my favourites list so Iโll add them to my post soon. What are some of your favourite books and authors?
